At the province of Bulacan is the city of Baliuag. Until it was discovered in the 18th century by Augustinian friars, it was a city merely a piece of land where plants and animals lived side by side, but now, it is the center in commerce, industry, and transportation in the northern part of the province.
One notable point of interest in the city is the Baliuag Clock Tower. There not much information of how the clock tower came to be but that it chimes in every six o’ clock in time for the Angelus. The San Agustin Chruch was previously Baroque in design because of its construction in the 1700s. The earthquakes, however, destroyed the original cathedral which is why the restoration affected the design. The Baliuag Lenten Procession is a parade of sixty floats that show the Passion of the Christ. They also celebrate the Buntal Hat Festival with street dancing and colorful costumes and decorations along with Mother’s Day. If one walks around the city, you will also notice the numerous monuments everywhere because Baliuag is rich in history.
Anthuriums and roses have often been used to decorate the procession floats. These are popular and highly decorative flowers give with meanings.
