There is so much to do in this city in northern Tokyo that the visitor will barely know where to begin! If shopping is your thing you’ll be blown away by the department stores, two of which are the largest in the world. Be sure to bring your credit card! To find out about the history of the city head to the Toshima History and Traditional Crafts Museum. Sunshine Aquarium is home to almost 40000 animals including sea lions and penguins. If you’re lucky enough to be there at feeding time you’ll witness the divers who actually immerse themselves in the tanks to feed the hungry inhabitants! Take the short train journey into the centre of Tokyo to visit some of the beautiful parks filled with cherry blossom trees. Try to catch one of the cherry blossom festivals or Sakura Matsuri.
Ueno festival in Onshi park is held annually in the spring. It is particularly impressive at night when the blossoms appear to glow as they are lit up. Bokutei is another popular festival with a 1km line of cherry blossom trees which again are illuminated when darkness falls. Make sure you have your camera to hand when you go to the Chiyoda festival. View the cherry blossoms from the vantage point of a boat and capture the colours of these delicate blooms.
