A favorite place to head for locals who love the beach, Hiratsuka is located on the coast and is a great place to explore. Over four kilometers of sandy beach surround the city, and the shore also offers lovely views of Mount Fuji in the distance. The city of Hiratsuka is also host to several interesting shrines and museums, including the Hiratsuka Museum of Art and the Hiratsuka Mishima Shrine. Tokyo Disneyland is also not far, and many like to take a day trip out of the city to enjoy the rides and attractions of this much loved resort. For those who like to explore parks and gardens, Hiratsuka Park offers a beautiful display of roses and other flowers amongst which to stroll. Hiratsuka is also located under 30 minutes’ drive from Shinagawa, which is home to the stunning Shinagawa Kumin Park. Flowers are in bloom throughout the year here, but the best plants and colors are seen in the spring, including of course cherry and plum trees. The sakura plaza is a favorite place for locals to sit and picnic in the spring, whilst partaking in the local pastime of watching the blossoms fall. Shinagawa also hosts a Greenery and Flower Festival in Shinagawa-ku, spread out across several different areas.
