There are lots of wonderful attractions and things to do in Nobeoka, including taking in the shrines and temples such as the Imayama Daishi statue, as well as numerous smaller sculptures. The old castle is another great place to explore. Located in the Shiroyama Park, the castle has an interesting history and the surrounds are a great place to head for flower lovers. There are thousands of camellia flowers here, some even bearing the name of the city itself, as well as a stunning display of cherry trees in the spring months. During April or May when the trees come into full bloom, the castle is a popular spot for viewing the beautiful blossoms on the trees and spending time with friends. The Gokase Riverbanks are also a popular flower viewing spot, with beautiful canola flowers lining the banks and hundreds of cherry trees along the way providing a contrast of colours in the spring months. The city also hosts an annual walk down the beautiful Kona Hana Road when the flowers and cherry blossoms are at their peak.
